This year we're excited to welcome back the USAF Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds are the premier air demonstration squadron of the United States Air Force (USAF). They are assigned to the 57th Wing, and are based at Nellis AFB, Nevada. The squadron tours the United States and much of the world, performing aerobatic formation and solo flying in 6 specially marked F-16C Fighting Falcons. The name is taken from the legendary creature that appears in the mythology of several indigenous North American cultures. The demonstration team was founded in 1953, and continues to inspire young men and women nationwide to serve in the armed forces.

Millions of people have witnessed the Thunderbirds demonstrations, and in turn, they’ve seen the pride, professionalism and dedication of hundreds of thousands of Airmen serving at home and abroad. Each year brings another opportunity for the team to represent those who deserve the most credit: the everyday, hard-working Airmen voluntarily serving America and defending freedom.

More acts will be announced as they are confirmed at http://www.gulfcoastsalute.com/category/gcs-news/
